MEET DR KYLIE STEEL – MENSTRUAL CYCLE RESEARCHER & SENIOR LECTURER (WESTERN SYDNEY UNIVERSITY) PhD (SpSci), MHSci, BPE, DipTeach

Kylie is part of a interdisciplinary international group of researchers investigating the barriers and challenges women and girls experience when managing menstrual cycle symptoms while engaging in sport from grassroots, elite, and masters levels of performance.

INSPIRED BY GLOBAL RESEARCH EFFORTS

As part of a group of multidisciplinary researchers, Kylie is specifically interested in the impact of the phases of the menstrual cycle on cognition and skill performance, especially in high demand contexts. Integral to this research is the collaborate holistic approach to sharing knowledge will fellow research groups with the singular aim of improving health and wellbeing for all females.

BETTER RESEARCH. BETTER OUTCOMES

Current research findings are mixed, and rarely consider more than one variable e.g., endurance, which makes it difficult to provide accurate advice and guidance. Therefore we aim to take a holistic approach to addressing the needs and females in movement contexts, allowing for more appropriate management guidance.
